6 / 18 / 10 - It will not initiate enforcement actions for violations of the RRP Rules Firm certification requirement until October 1, 2010. (Please note that under the RRP Rule, EPA has up to 90 days to respond to applications for Firm certification. The Agency has typically taken 45 to 90 days to process these applications.) It will not enforce against individual renovation workers who apply for enrollment or who are enrolled in a Certified Renovator training class by September 30, 2010, so long as the training is completed by December 31, 2010.
4 / 22 / 10 - Federal law requires that contractors performing renovation, repair and painting projects that disturb more than six square feet of paint in homes, child care facilities, and schools built before 1978 must be certified and trained to follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination.
